The Grass Is Not Greener On the Other Side

The Grass Is Not Greener On The Other Side

grass is greener where you water it

The grass is not greener on the other side.  It is greener where you water it.

When I think of the phrase “The Grass is Greener Where You Water It,” I think about the importance of keeping the promises I make to myself.

Grass refers to facets of your life such as your mental & physical health, relationships, career, family, etc.
When you focus on your grass and water/feed it(improve your own life and the facets of it), the illusion of the grass is greener on the other side dissipate.

If you find yourself focusing on the “the grass is greener on the other side,” you will find yourself partaking in the game of comparison.

Since everyone is not on the same journey, comparison can be dangerous. During the comparison game, you can’t see the times the person may have tried again, again, again, etc.

You only see how green the grass is (the results), but you don’t see how they watered it, fed it, fertilized it, remove weeds, etc.

You don’t see all of the failed attempts. You only see the outcome.

This is why it is so important to keep your eyes on your journey. Spend your precious time watering, feeding, and fertilizing your grass.

The Grass is Greener Where You Water It

The phrase “The Grass is Greener Where You Water It” resonated with me so much until it inspired me to write a personal declaration to myself. It helps me stay focus on my grass.

My Personal Declaration

Hello Me,

I Love You. There is only one me. A beautiful masterpiece. There is no other Art like Me around. There is no one around who can be Me like Me.

grass is greener where you water it

Those results sound beautiful. They are possible too.

Let’s talk about how To make your grass greener

Write a Personal Declaration

Start a 30 Day Challenge of something you want to improve or add in your life

These two activities will help you get out of a rut and give your a refresher/reminder of how your grass can be beautiful and green.

I shared my personal declaration earlier in this blog post. Your declaration can consist of your goals and how you intend to treat yourself. You can customize it however you want.

A personal declaration and 30 day challenge guide and bring you back to your grass if your eyes have wonder off.  They bring the focus back to you and your life.

With the 30 Day Challenge, you don’t have to overwhelm yourself with a long list of things to do. You can work on adding one to two new daily positive habits.

As time pass, the domino effect may help you want to add more daily positive habits.

If you have been following my blog, you may remember me mentioning the book “Breathwork, How To Use Your Breath To Change Your Life” on my Best Wellness Gifts for Wellbeing and Self Care blog post

We need to breathe to live, so we know it is necessary. We can also use breathing as a tool to help with energy, healing, reducing stress, increase awareness, etc.

Since there are other ways breathing can be beneficial, it is important to understand breathing and how it affects the body.

This book provides you with knowledge and techniques you can use regarding breathing.

For my recent 30 Day challenge, I added the Wim Hof breathing technique with a cold shower to my daily morning routine.

I found out about the Wim Hof breathing technique from this book, “Breathwork, How To Use Your Breath To Change Your Life”

The Wim Hof breathing technique by William Hoff involves taking ninety-three breaths broken up in three rounds with thirty inhales and exhales.

Then one big inhale and hold during the three rounds process. After I finish the breathwork, I take a cold shower.

This book gives you the step-by-step process to follow. You can also use a YouTube video guided by the creator of the Wim Hof breathing technique. I use the video daily. My mind and body feel so light and relax afterward.

I am still in this 30 Day challenge including the Wim Hoff breathing technique with a cold shower. I started it on a random day. I am on my third week. I will speak more about it in a few months. So far, it has been very relaxing.

During another one of my 30 Day Challenge, I added the acupressure mat to my daily routine. It started out as a 30 Day challenge but it has grown into a part of my daily routine for the past nine months. I also spoke about this tool on my Best Wellness Gifts for Wellbeing and Self Care blog post

This tool hurts so well. It is often described as a bed of nails.  It helps mentally and physically. I use it as a part of my nighttime routine. After my evening shower or self-love bath, I prepare my bedroom like you would if you were at a spa. I light a small aromatherapy candle & turn on the sound of the ocean from my white noise machine.

Sometimes, I lay the acupressure mat on the floor or on my bed. I lay on it without a shirt for about 25 minutes. There is nothing but calming and relaxing vibes, I tell ya.

Afterward, I have a natural high. I have been using this tool for over nine months.

From my experience, it helps relieve back pain, muscle pain, & tension. It also helps reduce stress, produce relaxation, and improve sleep.

I had to build up to this process. Initially, I started with 5 minutes with a shirt on. I gradually work my way up to 25 minutes. At first, all you feel is pain, but it gradually turns into relief.

Check with your doctor, and do your research before using this tool. I found an article stating how people with high blood pressure may want to avoid it.

I mention the effect of the breathing technique above. This acupressure mat also makes my mind and body feel light and relax afterward. It has been a great addition to my nighttime routine.

I have a host of other 30 day challenges I like to use when I need a push in doing something or if I need to focus more on something.

Some examples are 30 Day workout Challenge, 30 Day Detox from Social Media, 30 Day Self love Challenge, 30 Day Exercise Challenge, etc. 30 days do not overwhelm your mind, and before you know it, the 30 days will have come and gone.

You will still be doing the thing you added after the 30 days. You will have added a positive habit into your daily routine. 30 Day challenges also help you focus or refocus on your grass.

They cause you to want to make your grass as beautiful and green as it can be. When you are focusing on your grass and making it greener, you don’t have the desire to look at anyone else.

Here are a couple of blogs where I discuss things that help me focus on watering and fertilizing my grass (my life). They are about focusing on yourself and ways to improve your life mentally and physically.

How to Detox Your Mind and Body including Immune System Boost

How to Lift Your Mood In 13 Ways

In conclusion, the grass is greener on the other side is an illusion. The illusion does not give you the background (work, sweat, tears, failures before succeeding, etc.) of what goes into the greener looking grass on the other side.  Your grass can be greener if you focus on it.

A personal declaration and 30 day challenge of some sort can help guide you back to your grass.  There, you can make the grass as green as you want it.

The grass is greener where you water it.
