Waiting to Strive Towards Your Goals. Will The Time Ever Be Right?
It can become so easy to postpone some dreams in life. You may tell yourself that there is always next year, I can’t do it, I don’t have the resources, or I just don’t have the time. As you continue to feed your mind these thoughts, time just passes by. Next thing you know, you are looking back regretting the choices that you didn’t even attempt to make.
Honestly, the time will never be right. There will always be something that will cause you to hold off until later if you entertain the thoughts above. It is so important to just start with the tools that you have.
As you move along in doing what you set out to do, your confidence will increase and you will get better and the better tools will be available. The better tools are always in your reach, you may have to get through some stages in the beginning that will help you grow into the areas to have access to them.
This is not a dream but the same concept can be applied to it. I can remember working on a project regarding creating pamphlets years ago. Now, I did not have a clue as to how to begin but it had to be done.
I started from scratch and kept playing around with the different designs and writing formats until I was finally getting somewhere. I was so proud of the first pamphlet after many failed attempts (I mean either the design was not angled right or the writing was not space correctly).
I learned something with each failed attempt on how to do it better the next time. Well, a fire got under me and my confidence grew and I wanted to make some more with advanced designs.
See, this is what happens when you just get started with what you have. This is when I began to research different designs and writing format via internet. I would spend hours way into the night researching and creating the look.
You see, I always had access to the better tools, I just had to get past the beginning to know that they were there. The pamphlets got better the more I created.
If I had just told myself that I was going to wait until we could afford the software, I probably would not have been a part of the project. Now, would it had been easier with the software? Probably so, but who knows when or if that time would have presented itself.
Did I experienced frustration in the beginning? Yes, I did but I wouldn’t have known my capabilities in that area if I didn’t keep going.
Did I question if I could do it? Yes, I did but I removed that negative self talk with positive self talk (I looked at how far I had gotten by looking at the progress).
Did I have to stop and regroup at times? Yes, there were times that I had to literally give myself a break to stop and clear my mind and go back to it.
All I knew is that it needed to be done and I was not stopping until it was done.
I promise if you just start where you are and do what you can, you will AMAZE yourself. Remember you are worth it! 🙂
Sometimes, life has a way of only reminding us of the not so good times or moments, but I believe all of us have experienced a time in which we started out without the better tools on a goal or task and it worked itself out.

Encourage yourself. I challenge you to think of a time when you completed something, but you did not have a clue that you would in the beginning and how it started to fall in place after a while.

Jccee, your thoughts are always so inspiring. There was once a time in my life where I, too, had a lot of clutter and frustration preventing me from following my dreams. “I don’t have the time right now,” or “I will start researching when I have more time,” or “This dream simply is a dream and will never come true.”
But you nailed it – Positive thinking outweighs the negative and we think positively, we move into a better direction. We get closer to reaching our dreams.
I used to think I could never publish a children’s book on my own or visit schools and learn how to use social media. I tried for a few days and gave up and left it behind. Years later, God reminded me about my mission to help promote literacy and imagination, especially in low income schools. Now, I have published my book and work with kids all over New Jersey to not only help them love to read and write, but to also follow their dreams.
Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement, Gina. It is a wonderful feeling when you can look back on accomplishments that you thought were impossible. I am so grateful for you sharing your story as it is always inspiring to read about how others made it through. Congrats on your accomplishments and how you are participating in actions that will encourage others to follow their dreams. Have a AWESOME Thursday! 🙂
